Clearing out the archives

Back in 2012 I went on an exchange to a school in Paris. When I was there, I indulged myself in taking many photographs of the beautiful city that Paris is. I also found myself in many classes surrounded by french a few grades higher than my comprehension - I wasn't fluent yet. So naturally I would doodle. One of the doodles is part of the art below. Unfortunately, my file management isn't great so I haven't been able to find the original copy - it's sitting somewhere in my parents storage. But I drew a picture that I'd taken, and realised, oh man it's actually very similar maybe I should see how similar it is. So I took a photo of my art and tried to see if I could merge the two together subtly so that it was hard to see!

This is how I created the series "Where to draw the line."

I decided to have a go at a few more pieces of mixed media art. I quite liked my photograph of a bike on a street in an alleyway in Paris, so I had a go drawing and merging this (see below). I particularly like how difficult it is to see the difference between where the drawing starts and the photograph finishes. I think it's particularly interesting with more and more AI assistive technology and online editing tools.
